Winter Wilderness – Limited Edition Fine Art Print

“Indeed there is nowhere on earth quite like Tasmania” – David Attenborough

While walking within the haunting beauty of the magnificent Cradle Valley (now the starting point for the famous Overland trek), it is hard not to think back to an ancient time (tens of thousands of years  ago) when this valley was fertile hunting ground for the Big River tribe, who hunted here during the summer months.

The button grass that grow all over this valley are testament to their extensive use of fire, which helped to attract animals to the newly grown vegetation as well as opening up travel routes. Button grass are one of the first species that colonises after the earth has been scorched.
