Into the Blue
The Into The Blue series is in a way my love letter to the mediterranean. All of these prints came together from images I shot while living on the French Riviera, and travelling to her not so distant neighbouring coastline, the epic and colourful Amalfi coast.
While the French Riviera is a destination known for its glamour and glitz, I personally know and love her other side!
I am drawn to her quiet secluded swimming coves, to walking her pine scented paths that wind their way around her sometimes rocky coastline. I love her small colourful fishing villages and her lesser known towns, those places that very often get overlooked by so many.
The images in this collection take me back to wonderful languid days spent swimming off the rocks along the coast, lounging on the beach of gorgeous Villefranche sur Mer, where I would spend whole days lying on her gritty sand, with a picnic and refreshing dips into the clear blue sea. Or, those summer days at Paloma Beach on the extraordinarily beautiful peninsula of Cap Ferrat, a small cove and beach tucked away and surrounded by glorious, sweet smelling pine trees.
My connection to the Amalfi coast is briefer, but I still feel the love! This is an area of the world that is very difficult not to love. Who could not be awe struck by the dramatic cliffs and charming villages found all along this coast. I could spend hours perched on a Positano terrace just looking out to sea, and want for nothing else.
Then there are the beaches, the colour, the noise, the linear perfection and eye for detail. A day on the beach in Italy is like nowhere else on earth. It's a big, happy, colourful, fun fest!
